2006 NA maps not compatible with Nav 5

Excuse the cross-posting.

According to TT Tech Support the new NA maps are not compatible with Nav. 5 due to the differences in the maps used by these two programs. However, according to this rep., a Nav 5 to Nav 6 upgrade path will be announced in Jan.

(My fingers are crossed that this scenario will work out for the best.)

Addendum: The above information concerning compatibility is now being contradicted by information on TT's web site.

If you currently own NAVIGATOR 5 and a compatible device for NAVIGATOR 6, you will also get the latest Navigator 6 application.
Please click here to find out if your device is compatible with Navigator 6.

Note that only new maps (version 6.6) can be used with NAVIGATOR 6.

The description of the map update does not indicate that it includes the Nav. 6 program software:

New maps of the United States and Canada are now available for your TomTom GO, ONE, RIDER or NAVIGATOR

The latest US/Canada maps include:
More than 410,000 new road miles
More than six million new household and business addresses
Improved road detail and visual representation of surrounding areas
Updated Points of Interest, including more than half a million new POIs
