TT GO700, microphone dead?

Hello, I have just bought GO700 from this auction on ebay:
TomTom Go 700 SAT NAV GPS AU+NZ+ EUR +USA+CAN 2010 maps - eBay, GPS, Electronics. (end time 12-Apr-10 21:35:21 AEST)

All works absolutely perfect, apart from microphone. When calling with my mobile the other party doesn't hear me. I can't record my own voice directions either. Appearently microphone is not working. Would you have any suggestion how to tackle this issue?

I suspect the unit you bought has hacked software. The original 700 did NOT come with all those maps. To make the maps work, the firmware also has to be hacked. As a consequence, it may be the firmware hacking that caused the microphone to stop working, not a mechanical problem as such.

Tap the satellite bars to see the firmware installed.

Many members from OZ have fallen victim to fraudulent ebay sellers of TomTom units.

I'm not 100% sure it's hacked, but if it walks like a duck.......
