Just in case any of the more technically minded of you are interested:
There is actually a pronunciation adjustment engine written in to the TomTom XL (and others?).
The problem is that they must have rushed the release and one of their config files is not pointing to the actual file. (Intentional?)
This applies to the 'Serena' Voice (UK Computer) only.
------
In file \VocalizerTTS\eng\speech\vmobilev5\vmobile_eng_serena_dri40_155mrf22.hdr
The line
./VocalizerTTS/eng/speech/components/rex_eng.dat
should instead read
/mnt/sdcard/VocalizerTTS/eng/speech/components/rex_eng.dat
Entries in said rex_eng.dat file are applied using regular expressions. This is FYIO - I'm not responsible for any changes you might make (It can really mess it up if not formed correctly!)
Information on regular expressions can be found here: Regular-Expressions.info - Regex Tutorial, Examples and Reference - Regexp Patterns
It's good for changing metres to 'meaters' and any of the various street/city pronunciations that bug you.
------
I found what I was looking for - Can anyone else find any anomalies?
There is also this link, but the program doesn't seem to do anything for me:
TurboCCC - Downloads
