Hi!

I am new to TomTom Rider units, and am currently facing a fairly frustrating issue. The unit itself seems to be working without issue, but the audio quality to my earplugs (integrated bluetooth speakers) is atrocious. It will make a strange beeping noise ahead of the instructions being given, then the quality of the instructions is patchy and drops in and out.

I've tried adjusting the quality selection on the unit, but it seems that only the HSP setting works, as the A2DP option doesn't deliver any audio at all.

I'm at a bit of a loss, can anyone offer and guidance? Thanks.

Hi there @Weldedshut -
What is the brand of the communication system that you are using? I can only use A2DP with my Sena 5s headset as the other setting also gave me very poor erratic results.

Thanks for the reply @Kieron M. The in-ear audio comes in plugs from Custom Fit Guards, so I assume it's an off the shelf bluetooth unit/spec. I don't get any poor quality from the iPhone or other devices, just the TomTom.

Thanks @Kieron M. With that info and a bit of tinkering, the issue I think is it is single channel. So when the headset is connected to the iPhone, the TomTom either throws out poor quality audio or none at all. Ran several tests and that does look to be the issue.

Many thanks for the assistance and documentation (have booked-marked the link), I will have to look for a multi-channel headset upgrade instead - a good excuse for new gear!

Hey @Weldedshut -

I can’t fault the multi channel system I have, the sound quality is extremely good for music/satnav instructions etc. Good luck and safe riding.
