How to Upgrade Maps from UK to Europe

I'm trying to upgrade my Renault Carminat TomTom to Europe Maps.

It comes with a 2GB SD card so I need to get it workinng with a 4GB card before buying the new maps.

I've backed up the 2GB SD card onto my PC then restored it to a 4GB card. Everything seems to have worked except the TomTom says Problem with map can't use with this device. I've use a file browser to check all the files have copied. Everthing is there and identical except a file called ext3_loopback which has a different file date and contents.

How to I get my old map working with my new SD card?

The Carminat devices didn't have any internal memory, and the original cards come directly with TomTom with the maps installed. This could be a tricky one.

Everything worked except the maps. I contacted customer support and they told me the maps need to be assigned to the user account. Because I was the new owner of the car the maps were not assigned to to me.

If anyone reading this is in the same position as me all they need do is call support explain you are the new owner of the car and ask for the maps to be assigned to your account. They did this for me and everything works fine after that.
