TomTom GO 510
Hello,

I bought a new TomTom Go 510 in December and it works well (although sluggish menus) when it is connected to the car.

When I unplug the TomTom from the mount at the end of the journey it goes in to sleep mode. A few days later when I next use it, the battery is empty and I need to plug it in to the dock and power it on from cold (which takes a couple of mins before it's usable). This happens even after long journeys where the GPS has plenty of time to charge (and I'm using the TT supplied charger).

My previous GPS units have always been able to hold a charge in sleep/standby for several weeks, so I'm very surprised that this can't do it for a couple of days.

Is this likely to be a fault with the unit, or is this as expected?

There may be an issue with the device but, indeed, the battery will ultimately drain in sleep mode. A true 'turn off' shouldn't have that issue.

Thank you for the quick response. I understand that sleep mode will slowly deplete the battery, but does this sound like it's a fault if it can't last even a couple of days when it's a new device? I don't want to return it if the behavior is as expected, although I can't imagine this is normal.
