As some people have been asking about sources of add-on applications for TomToms, I've ported over an old list I compiled on another forum.

I should say straight away that many (or most) of these links may be dead, or the software from them may well not work on recent TomTom models or software versions.

If anyone can help research what works and what doesn't... please post your findings here. And if anyone knows of something that's not on the list, please let us know and I'll add it on.
Thanks!

Here's what I've found so far:

Navigation tools:

Tripmaster
provides Tripmaster-like functions and GPS tracking capabilities
(Tripmaster v2.5 is working with app 8.350)
SpeedControl
a cut-down version of Tripmaster. Navcore 7 only.
Offroad Navigator
allows you to follow an itinerary without maps.
v3 download for Navcore 7,8 and 9.

NMEA Logger
allows you to record, as they are received by the Tomtom, the NMEA frames or decode the frames during reception. Navcore 7 only.

TT_Maps
enables the use of raster maps (e.g. topographic maps) on your TomTom. The software is still under development, but is already usable.
http://jrepetto.free.fr/ttmaps/en/index.html

Itinerary Tools:

Tyre
"Trace your Route everywhere" Allows you to create a route in both Google Maps and Google Earth and create a TomTom compatible itinerary file.

Integrates with v8 and 9 software so files can be sent directly to the TomTom device Tyre can also be launched from TT Home.
For v10 and above software, you can still use Tyre, but you have to use MyTomTom to upload the files to the device.

Free (ad supported) and paid-for versions available:

The Houghi Script
Simple copy and paste on a website allows you to create a route in Google Maps and create a TomTom compatible itinerary file.
Code also available for use on your own website.
http://houghi.org/tomtom/

ReverseItn
allows you to reverse an itinerary you planned on your Tomtom
SkipWaypoint

Event Logger
Logging of events to itinerary files, automatic change of day/night colours, etc. Also includes an Altimeter.
http://web.tiscali.it/macri/Event_Logger/
(Works ok in the background with v8.350 - no display)

Log_Pos
A simple tool which logs an itinerary to ITN and TXT files, while also flashing the city name with the altitude!
http://www.pilsit.net/TT_SW_logpos.html
(Works with v8.350)

FireTom
Enables tracking of your location over the internet, which can then be viewed in several applications including Google Maps!
According to the website, it works with any model with connection to the internet, except the x40 models and the One 3rd edition (so probably excludes the new range One and XL too).

I haven't attempted to work out which ones work on which models or software versions myself, you'll have to discover that for yourselves! (please reply with any more info and I'll add it!)
If anyone knows of any I've missed, please post a reply, and I'll add them on.

Under Itinerary Tools:

Tripmaster
Ver 3.1 is working with app 9.430 on my XL 340S..

Under Itinerary Tools:

Log_Pos
Link is dead. No evidence found anywhere that this program exists.

Under Other Utilities:

Altimeter

Neither of the developer's versions work on Navcore 9.43; ver 1.10-2009xxx flickers; ver 1.10-2010xxx displays the altitude then freezes & requires reboot.

2011 post on developer's website indicates he's "working on that" to make it run on Navcore 8.30.

Under Itinerary Tools:

ReverseItn

Although it does "work" with app 9.430, there are several things to consider:

1) Upon launching, the program will flicker (alternating with TomTom); however, there is (just) enough visible time between flickers to make entries.

2) The program does not take into account the divided highway dilemma; if a waypoint is on one side, upon reverse generation, the route will double back to try to include that point (not necessarily a good thing)!

Thanks for all the feedback guys... keep it coming!

I had suspected that a lot of developers would have given up and gone elsewhere, once TomTom had decided to make it as hard as possible to keep things working.
