Route Line Dashed Lines

New to TomTom (XL-S) and have a question about the display of dashed lines in the route.

When I navigate to HOME, once I enter my subdivision (after a gate), the TomTom will say I have arrived and show dashed lines to my actual house. Also, it will not show turn arrows or voice prompts.

Why does this happen?

It happens to other destinations as well.

I was thinking it was because of the gated subdivision, but my cousin also lives in a gated community and I don't get the dashes in the route to her home.

I think the dashed lines depict private roads. I've seen that when I go through a gated community.
