I just bought a TomTom One 3rd Edition, but I have yet to open the package. I got it with the intentions of using it here in the US and using it in Ireland when we go there every spring. My understanding was that I could save to my PC the US/Canada maps that are preloaded on the TomTom, delete them from the unit, and purchase and load the UK/Ireland maps from TomTom. But now I've been told by others that I can't remove the preloaded maps from the TomTom One 3rd Edition. If that's true, I'd rather a model with the SD card slot.

Can anyone tell me if my friends are right or wrong about swapping out the maps on the TomTom One, 3rd Edition?

I have no idea about your issue but I am sure someone will give you a response later. But in the meantime welcome to the forum.
