Issues/problems/concerns with the 890 map

Very good. Is there also a CRPOI.DAT file? Something in the neighborhood of 24,000KB or so?

Ah, and to double check .. what is the date on the POI.DAT file?

Good to review the obvious that might be missed, but what else could he have meant by this comment earlier on? "The menu shows the green check mark next to those I want displayed."

You are not going to believe this- went back to the green check mark and unchecked everyone. Rechecked and they are back. Thanks for your help.

Now that's just strange. mvl definitely gets the 1/2 Psychic-of-the-Day award. I don't recall anyone ever having to do that before. If they're checked, they normally just work.

Upon further review- I had a POI for BP gas stations which may have corrupted the display. When I rechecked the green check mark for the BP gas stations, all the icons went away. Obviously, I deleted that POI and the others returned. I had downloaded it from TomTom Home under POIs. Just went back and looked at it again and there is a comment in red that states a moderator is supposed to look at this one within two days to determine if it should be deleted. It never gave me problems before, but it must have gotten corrupted.

Aha - that's why I was asking back at the beginning where you had obtained your gas station POI data. A corrupt *.ov2 from elsewhere can cause some bad display problems. Guess the mystery is solved, eh?

I have a XL540TM and getting "Unnamed Roads".for places like I95 In VA.
Problem stated with the 2012 maps.. The old maps works fine
Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

I spoke with CS today, explained that the 890.4222 map is seen on the
device by HOME as well as with Windows Explorer.
When starting HOME and selecting Internal and trying to Operate my GO or
when using the unit on battery power it will start with the W&CE map.
When going to Switch maps only the W&CE is displayed.

I explained to CS that I had deleted the map from the device with HOME
and other times with Windows explorer but after reinstalling the
situation did not change.

Reinstalling my backed up 885 map works fine, flawless as before.

The CS Tech could not find anything about me in their computers and
asked me for the serial number. Reading it out to her she told me that
it was not possible for a serial number to end with 1DN as they only
used numbers.
Checking on the Sympatico eMail address I used when started four years
ago and the Gmail one I gave two years ago when it looked as if I was
switching away from Bell it took her almost ten minutes then told me the
account was sorted, that she could see all my former Support questions
and that henceforth I must only use (e-mail address removed).

(Cute, as just before posting I wanted to check how they had logged the
ticket and found out that my profile only exists under the Gmail address
but when I tried to use it got a notification that it was used by
someone else.)

Now it was suggested to delete the map from the device as well as the
computer and download anew.
She then gave me the ticket number In case I had to call back.

After downloading and installing and not finding a change in the status
quo I called again.
The second tech came back after conferring with a level up for over five
minutes and asked to go through the deletion, downloading and installing
procedure again.
Should it not work she suggested to call back again upon which the
device would be reformatted and they would tell codes that must be
entered to bring is back to life.

Giving the ticket number to the third Tech after another unsuccessful
attempt and asking for a next level Tech to start the reformatting
procedure she cautioned, saying that this could lead to a bricked device
at my risk, since the unit is out of warranty.
In that case they would credit me for the next 4 prepaid maps but not
the 990 as I had downloaded that already and they would grant me a 10%
discount towards the purchase of the next TomTom.

The times on hold were about 15 min each, the first call took a little
over 20 min, the second10 min and the last five.

I told her to keep the ticket open as I for about 5 weeks as I will be
going away for three weeks in ten days and that I would be using it with
the 885 map.

What is the latest NavCore for the 930 and a URL to download it.
I want eliminate the last potential cause for that problem, reasoning
that with that number of extra new folders there could possibly be an
adverse reaction between my 8.302 and the 990 map.

Well, 9.430 is the latest application, Arno. If you connect to Home, are you not offered it? (or maybe 8.351 and then go through the process again to get to 9.430).

I'd be very surprised if there WASN'T an adverse reaction between v8.302 software and a new map. In fact, I'm amazed that a v885 map works with it!

The recent release of v9.430 software was compatible with the Go930.

EDIT: beaten again.... 15:0

It may be that HOME sees your Navcore 8 version and knows you can't use the 890.4222 map.

It's my understanding it takes a Navcore 9 version to run the 890.4222 map.

The latest version for the 930 and many other models is 9.430

Here is the direct download link.

Good Luck and keep us informed.

No idea if this is related. I downloaded the European v890 map with no apparant issues. However, myTomTom still maintains that I have "an important update". This important update is the UK version of v890 and I can't fit that on the device without buying a micro SD card. TomTom Customer Services have given me about ten things to try none of which seem to actually solve the problem. They have confirmed that it is set up for European mapping, but haven't made any progress in how I can stop myTomTom constantly telling me that there is an update to a map I shouldn't be seeing.

Did you by chance use the same email address for the new Nav3 device as you once used for an older Nav2 device that used Home 2??
