Hotspot auto connect

I'd just like to ask
Once I've connected my device to my phone's hotspot once should it automatically connect when I switch it on again or do I need to go into settings every time select my phone and tell it to connect with the phone?

That's what I thought, it did a few times when I first got it but has to be connected to the phones hotspot manually ever time now and it's a right pain

Using Bluetooth or WiFi? Bluetooth autoconnect is problematic for some phones. I find shutting off BT and using WiFi instead to be a more reliable solution for tethering.

I have a 12 month old 7" Go Discover. It used to connect 100% of the time via my iphone 14 but recently the TT connects initially, but after 15 mins the 'no live traffic' car-X icon appears. If I go to bluetooth settings on the iphone, select TomTom i, and click on 'disconnect', it disconencts and then reconnects, at which point live traffic reappears. For 15 mins. then I have to do it again!

I have reset the tomtom and gone through the set up procedure 4 times to no avail, it still disconnects after about 15 mins.

It connects via buetooth obviously, and the personal hotspot icon is visible too. Would I be better getting it to conenct via wifi than bluetooth? And how do I do this?
