Trying to troubleshoot my dad's 1535m. Installed the mydrive software, then connected my gps. Mydrive doesn't detect my GPS, nor is it showing up in my device manager under network adapters.

I should add that I've tried changing computers (windows 7) and changing cables. The PC icon is showing up on the GPS - but nobody home.

Anybody?

Let's start from the beginning. What was the problem you were trying to troubleshoot BEFORE you ran into this connection issue? It sounds like you connected in an effort to troubleshoot something vs. are now troubleshooting a connection issue by itself. Was/is this device finding a proper connection on another PC at your Dad's place? Can you give us some status of the unit itself? Not connected, does it turn on? At this point, we don't even know for certain if the device is holding a charge long enough to make the connection.

Meanwhile, reset the device. With the device connected, press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds until you see the logo and hear the drums (if it will do even that much) and see what happens.

Hello,
Thanks for replying. My dad was trying to update the maps, but he had never created an account/linked the device to the software before. The problem was just trying to link the device to an account.

The unit is fully charged and the device has been reset to no avail.

Currently, my goal is just to have the unit show up in Network Adapters in the Device Manager.

So one more bit of help for me .. was your dad able to get it connected on his PC, but you are unable to do so on yours, or is this all on the same PC? Has it ever connected successfully?

Also, what PC is being used, and what OS? What version of MyDrive is currently installed?

Hello - thanks again.

It was the first time attempting to connect to his PC - so no successes thus to date. A windows 7 machine using the latest version of MyDrive. I have tried two other laptops, all with windows 7.

Even though Win7 does not see the device as a drive, do you hear the connect and disconnect sounds when you plug in the USB cable?

If yes, open MyDrive Connect, plug in the USB, hold down the power button and let go as soon as you hear drum roll.

Did your dead ever set up an account on TonTom's web page?

Thanks for replying. Sadly, no connect/disconnect sound. Did the reset as well - no go.

Negative as well to Dad setting up an account on TomTom's page.

What cable are you using to make the connection? It's sounding a bit suspicious at this point. Also, is this a Via 1535M or GO 1535M?

Yep - stock cable, then switched it with another of the same type . Same effect. It's a Live 1535M.

I've never heard of a GO 1535 (or any other Nav3 TomTom) that behaves the way you are describing. There's nothing inherently weird about running MyDrive on Win7.
So we know that the unit works (apart from this issue), that you have the GO 1535 Live, have both a stock cable and a similar one, and have tried this on more than one Win7 PC. Does that about summarize it?

Again, what version of MyDrive are you installing?

Yep, that pretty much sums it up - MyDriveConnect version in "Programs" states 4.0.2.2123.
