Can anyone tell me what 'Images' are in this context?

Welcome to TTF....

It is possible on some models to show raster images of a geographic area on the Browse Map screen.

(although from a Belgium site), see how to create such image here. The resultant files go in the raster folder.

When TT detects the map is showing that geographic area, it shows that image on the map. That's what that choices refers to.
