XL 340S set up trouble. Please help!

I just bought the XL 340S and I could not get it to move past the set up of the voice. When I chose any voice, it would freeze and then reboot back to the set up screen again.

And now, the GPS does not even give me the set up screen. It loads the main image of the bridge and then freezes.

I did not find anything about this issue, so sorry if this has been addressed already.

Please Help!

Did you make an Explorer backup prior to any of this happening? Have you tried a reset of the unit (hold the power button for 15 seconds on your model, I think).

Anything here of assistance? Especially the links at the bottom.

I did not make a backup becuase I was not able to initialize it.

I did try the soft reset with no success. I can't do the hard reset becuase I can't access the menu since it is not set up.

And I can't get past the main image now. It just freezes at that point.

Any thoughts on this one?

1) Make a backup of the Tomtom per this link.
2) Then format the drive
3) Then use HOME to update your application, then latest map guarantee for your map, then a voice.
