Why so many from Europe?

Seems like most of the GPS forums, people, discussions, etc center around Europe... especially the UK

Why is the "GPS" thing so big over there and, at least what I can tell, not so big over here?
 
mapping is better over there (although we're catching up) and the roads there are more confusing :p. Here, it's just a grid (mostly) so it's easy to find our way around.
 
And in england they have the lil toys way before north america does.
And i dont find it to confusing to drive around in the UK. But it is not a grid like in north america i agree.
 
TomTom was founded in Europe.
Also there are more people in Europe that use PND there than the US.
