Which backup method to use?

Newbie here (gps and web posting). I read the 'What to do First...' by Guttyboy and 'How to backup...' by dhn and am confused as to when to use which backup? Will it be alright just to stick with Window Explorer?
I'd like to thank both for their excellent posts--just understood what "Explorer Backup" is not ! Thanks.

We strongly suggest using the Explorer method for backups and restores. Honestly, the Home's backup and restore method is just not reliable at times.

In addition to the reliability of Windows Explorer backup you also get the option of saving more than one backup. The HOME backup tool will overwrite it's current backup with the latest. This will leave you only one backup. I suggest having at least two backups available with Windows Explorer just in case.
