Where can I get development info?

I am planning on writing a basic flight navigation system for my tomtom one 3, I would like to make it just a module to the current system so I can easily still use the road navigation system. Where can I find information about how to write modules? I found the http://www.opentom.org site however its focused on replacing the entire thing. I want to use the rendering functions of the default software...

ok nm it looks like I found everything I need to get to work. I will have to actually not have the main app running because it takes up too much cpu and keeps doing its road stuff in the background, certainly not something you would want going on when your flying. *going over a city* "TURN RIGHT HERE" uhhh no?
