I searched the TomTom site high and low, and could find nothing about what it cost for an android phone app. Anyone know?

I'm going to Japan, and so I want a navigation app that can have offline maps - another thing I couldn't find.

Lastly - I need it to be able to import a GPX file of a previously prepared path. Can the TomTom app do this?

What is the price of the GO Expert app?

€19.99 for 12 months, €5.99 for one month, €13.99 for 6 months.
Yes, you can import a GPX file from TomTom Maps.
With the GO Expert app, all maps are downloaded to your phone for offline use.

Personally, I prefer to plan a route using TomTom Maps and save it.

Yes, that works as long as you are going to a place that is on the TomTom database, and not somewhere you want to go that may be kilometres away from the nearest database place.

Sorry Willy. But the Tomtom Go expert app works effectively as a TT device does. The maps are there on the screen in real time, so do not understand the downloading maps or the comment concerning the database. You can download the maps as required. The UK is in 3 sections it is full uk coverage, plus ferries download. If you use your TT account to sign into you have all your places and routes as on a TT. I use it instead if a TT device via Android Auto.

Sorry should have added you get TT traffic, speed cameras and the route bar from a decent price. The only serious loss is the average speed indication in an average speed camera zone.

Yes, I agree.

Searching for a parking lot entrance, for example, will send you to the house number closest to the searched location.

Previously, I could enter the location of this parking lot with the Amigo app, but that's no longer possible.

I don't understand where I wrote that there was a problem downloading the maps?

Willy, sorry mistyped.

You stated 'With the GO Expert app, all maps are downloaded to your phone for offline use.'.

The maps are downloaded onto your phone and using the TT GO Expert app they are live maps, so not sure what you mean by 'offline use' when you connect the app through Android Auto or the Apple Play equivalent? Even planning a route on the app, without connecting to the car, the maps are in Realtime and updating for traffic etc. Have I misunderstood your comment? As I have said I use the app to save me replacing a TT device and to save me having to remember to move the device across two cars. with the mounts and cables etc.

When I say "all maps are downloaded to your phone for offline use", it means that you can use the maps without your phone being connected to your operator's mobile data.

Thanks Willy, I now understand your meaning fully, sorry for the confusion on my part. As I never have my phone disconnected as such , I have not had need to use them offline but it is useful to know of this feature.

Just out oof interest I have contacted TT to ask when they will include the average speed calculation when in a average speed camera zone and I received the usual; reply, we ill consider it? As I have said I consider it to be a useful app and worth the annual investment.

Grumpy, that's the benefit of travelling in England, always having a phone signal. Here in Australia, an "outback" road trip might be out of range for 90% of the time. Not getting live traffic might not be a problem if you see a car once every 20 minutes, but the maps and the navigation is there regardless.

Brian, in theory we have a signal all the time, unfortunately there are still some blackout areas, fewer thsn before but ? I appreicate in you neck of the woods, it must be very patchy in some areas. May you never get seriously lost.
