Weird Power issue

I loaded version 7.162 into my 910 and checked the "Switch off when external power is lost" check box.

It works but...as I'm driving along occasionaly and randomly the message that the unit is shutting down is displayed. Sometimes it goes away quickly sometimes it counts down a couple of seconds.

I also noticed that the battery/charging indicator seems to switch between charging and not charging and shows that the battery is not fully charged even when it is not displaying the word "charging". It also shows an increase and decrease in battery charge level while it displays the word "charging". I see the same thing when the unit is on the docking station. In either case the green external power light never even flickers.

The randomness of these two issues seems to indicate that they are related.

Although the battery/charging indicator acts this way with or without the auto shutoff selected, it does not seem to affect the unit in any way except when the auto shutoff is selected.

Any thoughts?

You possibly have an issue with:
the power jack into your GPS or
the charge cable has a short or
the cigarette lighter has a loose connection

Make sure everything is connected nice and tight.

The unit most probably does not sit properly against the car dock (dongle). Vibrations can also cause a loose contact between unit and dongle. Put some tape, thin foam, or rubber on the bottom side of the dongle to prevent the unit from moving.

Yeah, I thought that also, but experimenting with the base station and mobile station I cannot make it change.

Today I have left the unit on the base station and it finnaly shows that it is fully charged. Wiggling the unit in the base station or wiggling the power cord elicits no change.

I also find it strange that before I loaded version 7.162 I had used the instructions found at http://www.yournav.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9464&hl=
and never had this problem.
