TomTom Model(s)
Start 52
Please Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong Discussion.

I purchased my TomTom many years ago. Just as of a couple of days ago I wanted to use it and it asked me for an activation code. Well I no longer have a receipt so, I of course followed all the instructions on the screen. The toll free number to call is a number for some insurance agency, and the web site www.getyourcode.com does not work for me. I enter the DiSa code 1001230188 check the I'm not a robot box and nothing.
I believe the model is a Start 52 and the number behind the removable suction cup adapter is 4AA53 4AA5.001
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Paul

There is no activation code to activate a GPS unless you purchase a prepaid service from a store.

In my opinion you have connected your GPS to a site that is not Tomtom

You say The toll free number to call is for an insurance agency at this point your account has been hacked check your computer.

No hacking to worry about. Getyourcode.com is also used by Garmin, but the phone number is no longer good, as you note. The site's certificate has also been allowed to expire ... very sloppy IT. Your browser probably blocks the site for that reason.

Here's Garmin's instructions for the same procedure:

I find this activation code request weird?

A request had been made on the Tomtom forum.

Here is the answer of the moderator Jim forum Tomtom.

As the question comes up frequently, here are details on the activation codes:
These codes are provided either as part of very specific promotions or to people who have purchased a prepaid service - LIVE Services or Map Update Service - from TomTom or from a reseller.
It usually comes in the form of a scratch card revealing the code:
Note: Some resellers will provide the code as a receipt.
If you have not purchased a prepaid service or subscribed to an online promotion, you do not need an activation code.

I'm having the same issue with my TomTom. Won't work without activation code. It's worked fine for many years. Help

I've never seen a 'No numbers on unit', but if you're talking about 'activation codes', it must be quite old. Check more carefully, especially along the bottom edge, for a label that might provide us with a serial number. If it's an older Nav2 model, your serial number is also found in the file ttgo.bif in the root of your devices file system, and can be read with any text editor when connected to a PC.

What exactly is it that 'won't work' without this activation code? That should only be necessary for extra features, not basic operation.
