TomTom Model(s)
TomTom Rider 2nd Edition
What are the bugs that were fixed and what are the "improvements" made in the latest software release Version: 22.100.0004 (Rider 500)
Thanks

Tomtom rarely -- if ever -- mentions specific in a release. Nor do many other software companies.

TomTom innovation: They make "improvements" in the software but won't tell users what they are. :D

In this particular case, I believe it will not impact you at all - only those in other parts of the world with devices that include cellular connections (e.g., GO 6200).

This is interesting, I've just installed this update this weekend for my Car and now it constantly restarts when it is connected to the internet.
If I disconnect it from the internet it stays on, but of course I don't get the live traffic

Summary: this latest update has not worked. Hoping TomTom release an update to fix it!

What happens if you avoid the cloud connection ("Stop Syncing") and by doing so, allow it only to access the traffic server at TomTom? Does this cause the rebooting to cease?

I tested this today. When I'm not logged in (I.e. "Stop Syncing) then yes it behaves fine.

I'd say "Aha!", but that would be overstating my enthusiasm. At least we've identified a potential cause, but what we lack is a solution. Yours isn't the only device that does something like this. My GO 620 does something similar when it makes the attempt to reach TomTom's server on startup, but only reboots once. I do know another user whose device goes into a perpetual reboot as does yours. What's odd is that there are very few of us that experience this.

So let's use yours as the guinea pig here, and see if there is anything that can be done for it.

What content do you have stored at the MyDrive server (aka 'cloud')? Favorites, routes? Do you have backups of that information should we decide to delete it?

How are you connecting to the 'cloud'? There are three possible means for this:
1) MyDrive phone app using Bluetooth
2) Bluetooth tethering (hotspot) using your phone
3) WiFi tethering (hotspot) using your phone

Hello to all members of the group, I recently installed the latest version of navcore on my GO PREMIUM X and it was a disaster! The device kept rebooting and was unusable. I had to do a full reset to get the device working satisfactorily. Regardless of the time wasted resetting everything, I have definitely lost all my trip statistics since purchase. Otherwise, the only novelty that I noticed is a message that warns of a standby if the device is on but has not moved for thirty minutes. It's very annoying during a map update, especially with a fairly slow internet connection. Did you find anything else?

Hi there community.
I had those looping reboot/ (black-out->worldmap) problems also with the update before 22.100.0004 on my GO 5200 WIFI/SIM. Sometimes they were gone when I actively did a cold restart, but not always.
I'm now just updating to 22.100.0004 and new map... and just found out the manufacturer support-forum is gone, which only confirms my opinion about this company.

Update: just finished update and the first cold reboot isn't promising as the menu is again extremly slow and screnn still blacks-out all the time. Really seem to be even worse than before (now on home-WIFI and not SIM like in the car).

Just for the community bug research:

GO 5200 WIFI/SIM 22.100.004.411 (0) (23.11.2022)

What content do you have stored at the MyDrive server (aka 'cloud')? Favorites, routes?
* about 100 My Places, 3 My routes,

Map:
* Europe 1100.11660

Do you have backups of that information should we decide to delete it?
* no backups, would rather not want to delete it - (just deleted the 3 routes which did not fix anthing)

How are you connecting to the 'cloud'? There are three possible means for this:
4) I use the integrated SIM-Card
5) WIFI@home (for testing) which doesn't fix the error

Are you also able to eliminate the reboots if you disallow cloud syncing on your device?

I'd like to have someone try a test where, if stopping cloud sync solves the reboots, whether then allowing sync with no MyDrive web content in the account or on the device still causes reboots, and if that works, whether just adding a Home location at MyDrive web causes crashing again.

Since not all have this problem, I would like to find out if perhaps reboot issues are in any way related to the specific content that some people have stored on MyDrive web.

Do you have your My Places backed up anywhere yet?

As I wrote I have about 100 MyPlaces (not backed up in other form) but have NOT configured home-or work-adress on device (so that can't be the problem).
I really would backup the places if android MyDrive app had that feature to export/import those as LOC,GEO,GPX,KML... but that is not the case (as so often with software companies not implementing exports). I will not type them into a textfile manually for sure.

Content wise specialities i have some places named "__PlacenameOne" to have them appear on top of the list and of course if have special non-simpleascii-characters like Umlauts äöü or accented characters é è (which never were a problem so far).
Also on the MyDrive app on android some places just apear as coordinates "43,....N 3,..... O" where the same on the device apears with it's "name". Nothing of that was a problem some month ago.

My test results:

"MyDrive" activated on Go 5200:
So I tried it @home (wi-fi) and on the road (SIM GPRS 2G) with "MyDrive" activated and ui-navigation in menu is very slow to unusable
many loops with screen-blackout -> WorldMap and even complete "drum-resets".
"MyPlaces"-list is often empty after a loop, although favorites-stars on map are visible. Sometimes the MyPlaces-list reappear after a long time.
All in all the device is unusable since the last 2 software versions if used with "MyDrive".

"MyDrive" deactivated on Go 5200:
After deactivating "MyDrive" the device immediately felt faster in ui-navigation in menu and "MyPlaces"-list appeared fast. No more reboots or loops @home (wi-fi) and on the road (SIM GPRS 2G).
The good thing is with "MyDrive" deactived I only loose transfering a new place or a target from the android "MyDrive EU" app to the GO. Traffic services seem still to work via SIM/GPRS which would have been very bad if not.

So atm will only activate MyDrive on the device if I want to recieve a target via android app and otherwise leave it off.
But I will have to simplify my password as that's pain ita on that touchscreen to enter.

whether then allowing sync with no MyDrive web content in the account or on the device still causes reboots,
Where can I set MyDrive "web content"? On my device I can only stop synchronisation or not

btw. I opened a ticket (#2638779) now and put this thread URL in.

Not just you gizmo, my 5200 is in exactly the same state since the last update, utterly unusable. Deselecting "synch" in settings makes it work fine, but that's not exactly the point is it! Hopefully a system/firmware update along soon.

perhaps you could also log into your account on the tomtom.com homepage and open a support ticket with a link to this thread

OK done, ticket number 2638842, although I am not sure you can see each others, let's see what happens..

@gizmo21

With a big list like that, and no backup, you're obviously not a good candidate for our experiment! We would need someone whose use model wouldn't cause so much pain. Thanks for the detailed response, however. It continues to confirm that it's the sync with the TT 'cloud' server that is causing these issues for all of us.

Thanks to both of you for opening tickets. That provides a better chance of getting things moving more quickly at TT. They don't seem to pay as much attention to us, the 'professional complainers'!

Just as an aside, I've been having this sort of problem since somewhere back around release 21.100!

Does one of you have "special" characters in the MyPlaces names?

Mine are all normal alphanumeric with a couple including a comma (,) and a couple a dash (-)

There may be some in my *.ov2 files. Pretty sure my favorites, few as there are, are 'clean'. For today, I'll delete all of the *.ov2 files to see what happens.

speeking of manual added pois as *.ov2, I have them too. I don't know how i got them in there, but could delete them as they are quite old and I could get them back as updated version.

Perhaps ov2 could be a issue-reason as they are not used by standard users.

btw on https://mydrive.tomtom.com an export of all MyPlaces in a json.gz is possible but it seems no import back.
There on the browserversion of mydrive the .ov2 import is still possible so I will try to delete all ov2 soon.
