I have just noticed that there is a Version 2 GO Live 1005 Europe advertised at Maplin UK

anybody plz advise what the difference is? looks like its due to be realeased anytime now

thx for any replies

Check to see how much internal memory it has. I'm not that familiar with what's been sold so far in your market, but I am aware of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB 1005 Live versions being considered at one time or another.

I can't keep up with all these new models that are nigh-on identical to old ones!

By the looks of it, it could be just the same hardware, but with the B****e software release.

With even more LIVE Services at your fingertips, having the quickest way through traffic with TomTom HD Traffic is just the beginning. You can now make the most of your destination too. Find the best places to go, with Trip Advisor and Expedia,

Also "what's in th box" just refers to a
• GO LIVE 1005 device

No "v2" mentioned there...... so possibly just the marketing department hyping up something that already exists again.

With the 1005, you can't tell the players without a program! Lineup:

GO 1005 (GO 1005 / GO 1050 / GO 2505 - 4GB) S/N SE
GO 1005 (GO 1005 / GO 1050 / GO 2050 - 8GB) S/N SJ
GO 1005 (GO 2535 TM WTE - 8GB TTS) S/N SM
GO 1005 (GO 2535 - 4GB TTS) S/N SN
GO 1005 (GO 1005 - 2GB) S/N SF
GO 1005 LIVE (GO LIVE 1005 - 2GB) S/N FB
GO 1005 LIVE (GO LIVE 1005 / GO LIVE 1050 / GO LIVE 2050 - 4GB) S/N SA
GO 1005 LIVE (GO LIVE 1005 / GO LIVE 1050 / GO LIVE 2050 - 8GB) S/N SI <= This one has slot

Not sure, but it appears that only the units with S/N starting with SI have the slot. If anyone can verify that any other 1005 models are out there with a slot, please advise regarding the first two characters of the serial number so I can update our info.

1005 EU ver 2 bought today has 8 GB memory and micro SD slot for expansion
:blabla:

What are the first two characters of the serial number? With 8GB internal and a slot, I'm thinking yours must be the "SI" version as opposed to the "SM" version. Still looking for any exceptions, though.

To add to the confusion, my 8GB models with micro SD slot were 'Go1015' (and I think that's what they are called in Germany) but now seem to be called 'Go1005 World' here and 'Go2050' in the US.
Serial no "ST" brings the result GO LIVE 1005 / GO LIVE 1015 / GO LIVE 2050 - 8GB + SD

Umm... how to deal with this. Carefully, I guess. There are distinctions between the 1015 and the 1005 World.

1005 with S/N starting 'SM' is actually known as a 2535WTE 8GB here in N.A. and is not a LIVE model (Montreaux5).

1015 units with S/N starting 'ST' are also 8GB and do include the SD card (Geneva5) and are LIVE models. However, I do not believe this unit was EVER sold as a 1005 anywhere, and is not known in N.A. as 2050 or any other model. The only place I've seen an alternate to the 1015 designator for this model is in NZ where it seems to show up as the '1050 World'. The '2050' name appears to have been used only in AUS/NZ and Taiwan/Singapore areas.

UK website has the new Go1005 World as having
Internal memory8 GB internal flash memorySD SlotYes

Which sounds like the Go1015

But they have changed the quoted specs for the Go1005 Europe! they now say:

Internal memory4GB/8GB*SD SlotYes/No*-*depends on device model, please check here
So as far as I can see, a Go1005 Europe might be either an original one or a "World" one, just without the maps.
I think they are rummaging in cupboards for whatever they can find, and bunging it out as new models.

Just bought 1005Eu v2 from satnaveasy - best price. Extras inc TripAdvisor etc are well documented. It has 8MB internal memory and micro sd slot for map expansion. Says up to 4GB but I have used 8GB on a 720T without problem. Not set it up yet so wish me luck!

They are ST  Hope that helps

However, having now checked out the Search & Go features, specifically Tripadvisor and Expedia, I would say save your money. Definitely not worth the £70 extra over the standard model as the search results are pretty dismal. Less than 5% of the database I would think and missing big players in both camps. Shame, it was a great idea. I am amazed that there is very little info on this subject on this foru,?

Does that one include a Google search option?

I recently purchased a Go Live 1005 World, as it seemed to be the same spec hardware as the Go Live 1005 v2 EU, but Amazon were selling it cheaper.

It has Live services, and an SD slot. Serial number starts with ST.

I'll add a note to our records about this being a "world" model. Until now, all I've had on this one is this confusing mess:

GO 1015 LIVE (GO LIVE 1005 / GO LIVE 1015 / GO LIVE 2050 - 8GB + SD)

Makes sense that the 8GB version is a "world" model.

If you need any further info/tests on the World model, just ask. However, it does seem to be just the v2 1005 with world maps.
