Using an SD Card with ONE XL

Does the 2GB SD card that I just added to my ONE XL allow me to add more Favorites and POIs, or is the space used exclusively for maps?

For your model, everything must be on either the card or on internal. So, if your internal is 1 gig on that model, I believe you can use a 2 gig sd card and this will provide some additional room besides the application and map which must reside there too.

I too use a 2GB HD expansion memory card, and with root files plus five extra programs (Suntime, Height, Off-road navigator, Document reader, and Tripmaster plus a large poi database (285MB) -- i'm only using 1.1GB of the 2GB available. I have plenty of room to add many more .itn files, sounds, startup and shutdown pictures, etc.
