USB port not recognised

Typical 3 weeks past its warranty date and Problems.

My tom tom go720 was connecting to my computer ok last week
But now the computer says it has a problem connecting to its usb port.
It says there is a malfunction and try connecting again

I have tried connecting it to another PC with the same problem
I have changed the cable with another Tom Tom usb cable.
suspect its the tomtom usb port connection.

How do i fix this.
I have all the latest software and map updates.

Will the reset switch help and will it go back to DAY ONE out off the shop settings or will my new settings stay.

Any Ideas.
