I've recently moved from the United States to Canada, but I can't change the country in my TomTom account, and thus can't put in my new address now that I've moved. I read on a forum somewhere that if I reached out to TomTom support, they could update my country for me. However, after first being told that they could get that fixed, now I'm being told that they can't change it.

I've written back to try and clarify why they can't, as it seems bizarre that a GPS company can't update my location. Has anyone else had to deal with this sort of change?

Short answer: No, I have never done that.

Do you have the web page MyDrive Route Planner installed on your PC?

I don't see anything like that on their support site. All I can find are links to MyDrive, the old TomTom Home, and their apps for phones. Do you have a URL for the software your describing?

The reason for my suggestion is that you will most likely have to make a Factory Reset on your device which will erase ALL you Favourites and POIs. These can be saved to your PC after connecting via a USB cable using the MyDrive Route Planner. (MyDrive web -> MDW)

After setting up and connecting, tap the top right country flag. Yours should still display as the Stars and Stripes, Click the drop down an select Canada (en).

If your's is a pre 2010 TomTom GO 500 you are using TomTom HOME and the following does not apply (there is a different way).

At https://tinyurl.com/37v3db8s go half ways down and click on the MyDrive link.
When the software asks to access your location, allow it or it cannot calculate routes for you.

You'll need to deal with CHAT and see if they can help:
