Updates Help ???

Hi Ive had my TomTom a few weeks now , on my laptop a boxes popped up saying I had one update so I connected my tom tom , and clicked on the install icon. The tomtom has been connected for over an hour and a half and it is saying downloading and 97% done , then 00:00:00 hours. The install icon is saying updating. Why is this , and is there something I need to do ???? any help would be good thanks !
