Updated and now no maps work, HELP

The last resort is re-formatting the device memory.
Do it to FAT32 using Windows, just as if you were formatting a disk drive.

The firmware on the device should still retain enough identity for Home to recognise it as a TomTom and Home should then offer to install a set of system files (which you may well have to update several times to get back up-to-date).

Have you tried a pin reset on the 920?

If you are speaking of pushing the reset button on the bottom, Yes.

I cannot do that, as neither Home or the PC will recognize it now.

And you are using the cable that came with the device and are using a usb port on the back, not the front of the computer?

I am using the dock and a separate cable also. Doesn't seem to matter what port or even what PC. Also tried it again on my laptop. It just will not be recognized by Windows, much less Home.

What is the operating system of your computer? Have you tried restarting the computer and then connecting the unit?

Restore to factory defaults sets the unit back to the way it came from the factory. All custom settings are lost.

After a factory reset, and apart from pulling the battery, that little switch on the bottom is as radical as you can get. That little button is the same as pressing the reset button on the front of a tower PC in the old days -- straight processor reboot no matter what else was happening at the time. Fortunately, your TomTom takes more kindly to that than Window did :D
