update maps and tomtom home

I just bought the start 55tm and when I logged in to my computer it started the update but only went so far. a separate window came up saying a new update 2.9 was available. once this window came up I oked the download but then another window came up with an error message 411. I have gotten several errors messages trying to up date maps and tomtom home. I sent this error message to tomtom but when I clicked ok to download the update both windows disappeared. I cannot update to 2.9 or the maps. I am new at this so I hope I explained my problem the right way.

Try logging in again and if both a map and Home upgrade are offered, ONLY select the Home upgrade..

If it completes and gets installed, THEN go back and try for the map.

"v2.9" will be an update for the HOME program on your PC.

I believe you'll have to get that installed successfully before you can download the latest maps.
To avoid additional confusion, the TomTom does not need to be connected to the PC while you are updating Home.
