Unable to turn on tomtom xxl

Hi , I have a tom tom xxl that won't switch on.
It was working perfectly well the last time it was used but now, I can't even switch it on. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem and was able to fix it. Or, is it a lost cause?

Did you charge the battery for at least 2 hours?

The battery in that device is now at least 11 years old. The way these things are wired, if the battery fails, even having the device plugged into a decent power source won't allow them to operate. Trouble is, if you keep them plugged in, you don't realize that the battery is slowly getting weaker over time.

Take Arno's advice about a 2 hour charge, and don't use a computer or vehicle USB port to do it -- use a proper mains charger or at least a 1.2A wall adapter.

There are replacement batteries for your XXL if you're feeling handy enough to try it, and they're not all that expensive. Haven't looked into sources in the UK lately, though.
