TT 740TM Live - USB Connectivity Issue

Hi,

I have a TOMTOM 740TM Live and have trouble connecting to my PC. There is this pop-up message when I connect to the USB port of the computer:

Not recognized - something along those lines.

This happens 8 out of 10 times but it does work - rather rarely though.

Any help on this? A fix?

Thanks.

When it does that try resetting the TomTom by holding down the power switch until the device restarts with a Drum roll from the speaker, at this point try connecting to the PC again - Mike

If that doesn't fix it, try this from TomTom,

Windows XP

Windows Vista / Windows 7

Macintosh

Getting more serious, you could also try deleting the entries for TomTom where it appears as 'USB Mass Storage Device' in Universal Serial Bus Controllers

Right click and delete,

Make sure you get the right ones (one for the internal mem and one for the sd card (don't have any other portable hard drives etc. plugged in at the time).

Next time you connect, Windows should recognise it as a new device.

This site suggests you need to do it while running in safe mode.
