Anyone have or created any other backgrounds for Tripmaster other than is on Webazar's website?

I like these 2, but would like the "world" instead of the "penguin" and/or the speedo like gauge on the one w/o it.

It's funny how you created this thread as I was playing with the backgrounds yesterday.

I like the original background it comes with: bgnd_small_day.bmp and bgnd_small_night.bmp

Pretty nice! I like.
For those individual making their one skins, would it be possible to make 2 sizes: one for the 3.5 screens and the other for the 4.0 screens.

I got those off the Tripmaster site, but was hoping someone here had made some more......

I would like a combo of those two, maybe I'll mess around with Photoshop and see if I can figure out how.

Okay, I gave it a try:

I used the well-known Tango icon set, and tried for a cleaner skin than the ones I had been seeing, complete with labels and a better color scheme.

So far, I've only done the widescreen night version, but I plan on porting the theme over to the other resolutions and daytimes.

I worked on it for enough hours today, and here's what I still don't like about it. You guys can of course feel free to edit and contribute your ideas:

- The satellite box is a bit close to the duration area.
- The Duration word has the default red "dur." on top of it.
- The max speed arrow's alignment needs to be fixed.
- Maybe the speed box needs to be bigger? I didn't test it out with 3-digit speeds yet.
- Other general text alignment issues - it's HARD aligning to phantom numbers!

I also cleaned up a bunch of the other bitmaps that come with the program:

Speed Limit Warning to go with the above skin:

Speed Zone Setup:

And in the /skin directory, for the setup menus:
Checkmarks:

Radio Buttons:

Sliders:

I also hated the default Dixon font that comes with the program - it's way too blocky for a clean look in my opinion. The program uses Arial for most things, and Dixon for the big numbers... I changed everything to Arial. If you want to do the same, all you have to do is go into the /skin/BigFont.txt file, and change "Dixon 24" to "Arial 24".

All the above works fine with the latest version of TripMaster (1.7b).

I'm using layered Fireworks PNG files, so if anybody wants to help out, just tell me, and I'll send you the source files.

Oh, and hi to the forum - I'm Joseph.

Any questions, let me know!

WOW usafkisser, that is certainly great work. I really like how label the values in the program. I'll be really excited if/when you can translate this to 3.5" screen.

Definite rep points (+).

Perhaps you can take the screen captures of the site and try to align the labels that way? I was trying to do the screen dump function but it appears it doesn't work.

I'd love to be able to translate it to a 3.5" screen, but if I remember correctly, I think all the screen captures on the site are from the widescreen version. If anybody can point me in the right direction of a good 3.5" screen capture with all the numbers visible, I'll get to work on making a 3.5" version as well.

The screen captures on the site were what I used to align the labels in the first place, but they weren't totally perfect when I tried it on my 910. This leads me to believe that either the captures are off a bit, or the alignment was changed in the recent version (since those captures are from version 1.6c).

Also, any ideas for the daytime version? I tried a white background, but the colors just looked off. I want a simple single-color background, I think, to keep the layout simple, but I have no idea which direction to go.

Try here : http://www.webazar.org/tomtom/apps/skins/tripmaster
You'll find 320*240 skins.

Thanks for the help! I've got skins to work with, but what I really need are true screen captures of the 320x240 version in action, with as many numbers visible as possible. I need working numbers, like the captures on the Tripmaster main page, to help me out with alignment of the skin and labels.

Create an empty file (0 bytes) in the tripmaster directory with the name "capture".
Then you will have a screen shot (raw file) when you exit Tripmaster.

Thanks runarg. I will try that once I get home today. I want to help our friend, usafkisser, to translate the backgrounds to 3.5''.

Yeah, I used other programs to open the .raw file and its all scrambled.

I used, Irfanview, Windows RAW Viewer, Faststone Image View, and others I can't remember...all of which didn't open it or get a scrambled image

I was able to open the file using this demo program called ImageConverter Plus but it shows up in a very bad quality.

The pic shows in black and white but the image is broken into two images. The top half is the tripmaster screen and the bottom half is the main menu screen where I launch Trip master (??).
