Tomtom xl new fault

Having managed with forum help ( see previous post) to update " gps quick fix", I went to use it tonight. Firstly it would find satellites and then lose them all after a few seconds so I pressed and held the reset button. After that it no longer finds any satellite at all even after 30 mins or more.

Does this mean that it will no longer work again? Any advice appreciated.

Deleting the Ephem folder and then redownloading the QuickGPSfix updates might help.

At some point, you will eventually have to replace your GPS.

Note: Do note delete the ephem folder on the device. Merely delete any content it may have.

It may be necessary to delete the ephemeris data on both the device and the PC since it's possible the PC is sitting on some bad data. So we always recommend

• Delete the CONTENT (not the folder) within the folder on your XL called "ephemeris".
• Then on your PC, find your TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\ephemeris folder and delete the CONTENT (not the folder) of that "ephemeris" folder as well. That will mean deleting one or more folders called "QuickGPSfix".
• Then hook back up to Home and get whatever QuickGPSFix file it offers and see if that doesn't get you a decent satellite fix after a couple of minutes.
