Tomtom has launched app 10.500 on all myTomtom-based devices. This is a substantial application change, with the following changelog:

Version 10.500 (GO Series, VIA Series)

? You can now plan routes with up to 4 stops
? USA & Australia: You can now use MyTomTom to install third party POI sets, community voices, warning sounds, start-up and shut-down images, car symbols and color schemes
? Irish postal code solution: You can now navigate using GO Codes
? The following new languages are added:

? Bulgarian menus and Bulgarian streen names in the map
? Indonesian standard voice, Indonesian menus and Indonesian street names in the map
? Thai menus and Thai street maps in the map
? Traditional Chinese menus and Traditional Chinese street names in the map

? By default, devices now switch off when unplugged from the car charger
? Extended information is now available for POIs, for example addresses, phone numbers, and photos
? The default unit of distance for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa is now kilometers
? When creating a MyTomTom account, the association of the device with the accout has been improved

? Extended information is now available for POIs, for example addresses, phone numbers, and photos

Is that in the US only? We've never had these extended features on European POIs.

(As you know, I can't update my Go1000 to v10.500 yet so can't check for myself...;))

I don't see any extended info on my GO2535LIVE on onboard POI. Maybe this will happen with the upcoming map 875?

There is a better Google POI interface on app 10.500, and I can see add addresses along with the POI results.

This update has totally screwed up my voice command system for use with the phone on hands free. Other than calling home, it will not take instructiuons to phone a specific person, but just dials the first name in the phone book every time, despite which name you instruct the device to call. Also when the instruction to 'redial' is given, the TT shows a screen asking you to delete certain numbers, and when the screen is bypassed you are taken to the control panel, and the phone does not redial the last number.

In addition the update has changed the interface in the menus, making them much lesser friendly. In fact the only advantage I have come across is the facility to add up to 4 waypoints, but even this doesn't work properly, as the routing often misses out at least one waypoint, even though they are shown on the route summary as an isolated icon away from the route.

This is all very frustrating.........................does anyone no how to roll back the update................I have tried resetting the device, but this has no effect on the update

Unfortunately, Tomtom does not permit software rollbacks.

I never use voice "redial", but I just tried and I agree that it is broken. I recommend calling Tomtom about this error, the more calls they get the more they might prioritize a fix.

I don't have your voice calling problem on my device. If I say "4" to call the 4th number in the phonebook, it properly calls the 4th number.

I've seen the "waypoint in the middle of nowhere" bug before, but if it's not new to app 10.500. Certain "city centers" confuse the waypoint engine and get ignored. When that happens, use "point on map" and point to a specific street as a workaround.

Tomtom just released app 10.501.

Their changelog is identical to 10.500, so my guess is that any differences are just minor unspecified bug fixes.

I'll rename this thread to keep discussion in one place.

I have experienced the exact situation with he voice commands and cellular calling feature too. No matter what contact name you speak to the GPS unit, it dials the first contact in the list.

Backing up is not an option with the series 1000 or 2000 units from what I understand because we can only use the web-based myTomTom...how utterly pathetic or sadistic, I'm not exactly sure which just yet.

You gotta have a sense of humor, which I'm running out of.

I've been able to call every contact in the phonebook with app 10.501. You have to speak the list number, not the name.
