Hi, i have the tomtom 6200 and premium x, i was hit with the shut down of the 2g signal
Ive been running the premium x via my phone, so far it works just as good as an internal sim card.
So ist it worth me buying this new TomTom GO Exclusive 7?

I cant see what extra it has over the premium x

Hi

Not much point in buying a new device.

If your Premium X works, continue with this Premium X. Speed cameras are free for the lifetime of the device on the Go Exclusive. Speed cameras are paid.

Thanks, didnt think they were offering lifetime, and with an external micro sd, they cant make it obsolete with large maps that wont fit, im sure they will find some way of making the lifetime end

Cheers, also have the 6200, only bought the premium x for ifttt, but soon they got rid of of that, lack of use they said.

Do you need to download world maps? When you only need a few maps?

GO Premium has a slot for inserting an SD card, whereas GO Exclusive doesn't.

The 2g signal has not yet been shut down (UK) as I am still receiving traffic data/speed camera information via the Vodaphone SIMS in my GO5100 - and - GO Premium X. More likely, your SIM has been disabled on the Premium X.
Are you still receiving traffic/camera data from your GO6200?

Well when they said 2g is shutting down, i didnt check when, just went and changed both the 6200 and premium x, ive seen the premium x show up in my phones tethering, and i always get the warnings of road work delays, ive switched 2g back on somewhere, forget if it was premium x or 6200.

Just got an email with 40% off for the above, i can see its only 2 years updates, so while i have these lifetime update units, unless a new unit did something special i wont buy it, if i did i woukd ask for more than 40% i did with the units i got, and got a bigger discount as a long term customer and loosing functions on the premium x, the ifttt, but what is it going to do, says faster and faster updates, cant see tomtom getting many customers after what they did with 2g .


So if i remove my phone and the tethering, find the 2g to make sure its still on, go back to running it like that until it stops working, then update settings again

So not worth updating, nothing new in those new models other than paying again after 2 years. The premium x is taking me on diffrent routs when there is a problem on the rout i picked, but the other day 3 lanes were shut on m5, i didnt get a new route, so got stuck in the big pile up. I could have been taken off the m5 before i hit that 3 lane closed, but it did nothing, i could see it on the unit, long orange line and warnings long before i reached the m5, looks like its not going to automatically change to a new route and i have to manually find an alternative or tell it there is a road block and let it find another route.

So don't always get automatic new routes.

Omg, both units needed map updates, my router over 300mb local connections 1000mb tom tom conection about 54mb bloody here all night doing the updates, been 87% for 2 minuits before be it went 88%


Are there other makes out there which are same but dont rip you off.

I dont know how they will disable, most of the time im getting traffic reports, but if i check my phone, its in the Bluetooth but no longer shown in tethering

Surely there must be a place on the login account to recover a forgotten password?
