TomTom Model(s)
ONE XL, ONE XL-S, XL, Go 720, Start 20, VIA 125, Start 25 (BQ), Start 25 (BL)
Whenever using my TomTom GO 720, it's stuck on night regardless of how bright the area is, the only way to make it go to daytime mode, is to shine a flashlight into the light sensor. However when removing the flash light even if the area itself is bright, the Go 720 goes right back to night mode. Already tried resetting and updating the unit aswell

Perhaps there's a problem with the light sensor?

Have you looked at the brightness preference?

Ooh that's where the options were, just turned off the change to dark theme and lower brightness option for now, atleast till I manage to get the brightness sensor fixed (if that's even possible)

Also unrelated but is speech recognition supposed to not be available on the Go 720 (M6), as I keep reading it's available, but I can't seem to find an option about it anywhere

Do you have these icons on your GO?

Nope cannot seem to find them anywhere in the menus

I can however do hands-free calling aswell as make a custom voice though

Tap the navigate to button in the main menu.

I don't remember the menu very well on older GPS devices.

Yeah the navigate to button, aswell as the edit shortcut menu button, doesn't have the voice recognition buttons

navigate to only includes "Home", "Favorites", "Adres", "Recent Destinations", "Point of interests", "My Location", "Location on Map", "Latitude, Longitude", "Position of last stop"

Proceeding to tap address only includes "City center", "Street and house number", "ZIP Code", "Intersection"

Anyways seems cleaning the unit again, fixed the light sensor issue, dunno why it didn't fix it the first time though

Additionally fixed the voice recognition missing, by adding support_asr.dat with the contents being just "1" into the ASR folder, works perfectly now with west europe maps, in dutch

Seems the issue was the fact, that file was missing on the unit, after a system restore

I take it you used Home to do the save/restore?

We recommend this instead for these older Nav2 devices:

Yeah, backed up the map via home, then made a copy of the contents of the device in another folder, then formatted the device, reinstalled the software, then restored the map, and moved the splash screens back to the unit, as home doesn't seem to include those when restoring

The unit seems to have been unofficially updated though, and also had several features like live services enabled, despite the unit not supporting those aswell as an entirely different UI, not available by just updating via home, when I bought the unit, hence I did a restore

Anyways I'll keep that in mind next time I get another tomtom unit
