TomTom/Garmin/TeleAtlas - the Latest

I'm happy to see Garmin finally backed down.

As the article states, the map is the most important part of the equation. And now TomTom owns the major map maker.

Being able to license TeleAtlas maps to automakers and wireless phone companies should give them a lot more revenue, helping improve every aspect of their company and products.

Just keep in mind this won't happen overnight. As the article states TeleAtlas is in the red and TomTom just shelled out $4.25 Billion USD.

Even if Garmin would have won the battle, I'd still stick with TomTom because it offers more options at a lower price than Garmin and has a much friendlier user interface. :)
