TomTom freezing each time

Hi,
Just wondering whether someone could please help me.

I have a TomTom XL and just today it's started freezing after I type the first letter of the street name I am trying to navigate to. It freezes, and restarts itself.

I have restored the factory settings and done a reset by holding down the power button for more than 20 seconds until the drum noise sounded. Neither has helped.

Can anyone please help with how to fix this?

And you hadn't done any updates that might have preceding this?

Anyway........

Try this:
1. Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. If not sure how, see here:

2. Format the unit. Don't use quickformat.

3. Restore the backup.

If that doesn't help.........

After the backup in step 1 above, delete all the loose files in the root of the unit, NO folders or their contents.

Then connect to Home and install the application that will be offered.

Disconnect properly from Home using the Device Disconnect icon.

One question before doing any of the above ...... is your unit fully charged?

I'm not quite sure how I know if it's fully charged sorry. It has been charging for quite a bit today though.

No, I haven't done any updates beforehand. Just tried to use it and it started doing crazy things
