TomTom crippling earlier versions of Home?

I have been using a recent version of Home, I think it was 2.8. I used that because I did not like the features to force updates in Home 2.9. I noticed yesterday, TomTom has chosen to greet 2.8 users with a nag screen saying "warning" and crippling the program until you update. Phooey to that. Because some of the havoc wreaked by some forced updates (notably the WTE fiasco) , once I have a unit working well, I update Mapshare and the nav sat coordinates and otherwise leave it alone.

As I recall, I had modified the ini as discussed in other posts. Perhaps they have since updated to a newer version of Home 2.
