TomTom 740 restore from 930 backup?

Hi all,

Our 930t died and the store replaced it with a 740 live. The folks at the store 'thought' that we should be able to recover our favorites and other data from the 930 backup into our new unit, but it does not see a backup at that location.

Any ideas where I can begin to at least restore the favorites list, if not the POIs?

If the pois you are referring to are custom pois you downloaded or created, then simply copy the ov2 files from the old map folder to the specific map folder on the new unit.

As far as favourites are concerned....see the information in this link about converting them to a custom ov2 file which, again, can be copied to the new map folder.

But, a question .......

The 930 had both the NA map and the Western Europe map. The 740 does not have both. You may want to call support at 866-486-6866 and explain the situation and see if they can make available a European map for you to download to a mini sdhc card for your 740.

Also, do not register the 740 with the same email address/password at TomTom as you used for the 930. Create a new account.
