TomTom 720 SD card

The maximum "supported" SD card size is 2GB

The use of 4-8-16 GB cards is no secret and totally functional with proper bootloader

I'm really pretty bummed that it doesn't support SDHC cards though.

Of course the 720 supports SDHC. I've had better luck using Class 6 but there
are several Class 4 that have worked for me perfectly.

Along with the above clarifications, your Red X theory can easily be cleared
up with a simple "google search"

Navcor 8.010 to internal memory

Pedro, I've now done a few builds to various SD cards but none to internal apart from first time using Home. So I presume it's the same method as for an SD card. Backup first, then unload the 8.010 CAB using Winzip or RAR directly to the internal drive overwriting existing files. I'd keep my map and TTS folders the same as used for 8.300.
