GVWR / GVM (gross total) and GAW (gross per axle) is specified by the manufacturer, and it should never vary anywhere in the EU. Where the vehicle can be driven is a separate issue.

It was my first hand experience with the U406 and specifically the U416 of the late '70s that made me post that.
 
That's not a difference by country, though ... it's a difference in the way you spec out the truck you want (e.g., you can get the U503 in more than one wheelbase length with different GVWR).
 
I have driven 406/416 and 1300 and have been in a 1700, the latter being 435 series.
Can you give me a URL for the 503 series, I cannot find one.
