Tom Tom one, usa maps not listed for purchase

canderson= the person you just quoted.

As dhn says the zone maps are available for SOME devices. but each zone is still larger than your available 512MB.

But the zones are a bit of a side issue. As a "regional" device, yours would only be really usable with a single state, and unfortunately TomTom have simply stopped selling them.

It won't be long, I suspect, before TomTom has to bite the bullet and segment the North American map set the same way they had to do with Europe because it won't realistically fit into 2GB anymore, either.

Here now, canderson........ maps of North America are now zoned for some devices.

Yes, but not for the 2GB devices I mentioned (yet), but I expect it's just a matter of time, and not a long time, either .. and the level of slice and dice is no longer fine enough to support the small memory model units.

Meanwhile it wouldn't hurt for that Zones page of the website to give the information that would be most useful to many people: the size of the map in MB. Or would that be too simple?
I give up...

But it would be a different size next time and they'd never remember to update it!

florida maps

also looking to download my new Smart20 UK&ROI with Florida Maps as due out there tuesday
how do i do this ?

As you have a "regional" model, it only has 2GB of internal memory, so you will need to buy a 4GB microSD card card to fit the US maps onto.
Once you have that, just go to the TomTom UK website "Mapshop" https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/shop/maps/

Enter your model name (or serial number) and it will show you the maps available. I just looked, and for the Start 20 you can get "USA", "USA+Canada", "USA+Mexico, or "USA+Canada+Mexico".

Click on "Buy now" and it will become available for download when you connect your device to the computer and run "MyTomTom" (I'm assuming ou have that installed? - If not, get it from https://tomtom.com/en_gb/mytomtom/getstarted/

I think you can also make the purchase from within MyTomTom itself.

@stella
When you get that 4GB card, make sure it is at least a Class 6 (that defines the speed). More than 6 is overkill but good to use, but less than 6 can slow your unit down. I recently found some 4GB Class 10 cards from Sandisk that were actually cheaper than the Class 6 Sandisk cards on the same shelf. Go figure.

Consider installing the larger USA map on an SDRamcard of 2GB. Will only work when you install that SDRamcard I believe and only that one map will come up. We are planning on installing the specific maps we require on individual SD Ramcards. I think there will be an issue planning a route through multiple countries but we are prepared to accomodate this. I do not believe that we will have any issues with USA/CANADA

A really quick way of confusing someone into thinking that they are looking for "synchronous dynamic random access memory" when actually talking about an SD flash memory device???
