Tom tom 6200 wifi
Hi my Tom tom 6200 wifi had a few years and it’s starting come n then keeps restarting its self I’ve changed battery but this is still happening pls can anyone help

Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds.

Will do what next if doesn’t work as I’ve changed battery but still doing it so u have to separate screen when changing battery as I didn’t need to

I have the same issues on my Go 6200. Started about 5 months ago. Changed the battery but no resolution. Ive tried the drum reset but it does the same.

turn mydrive sync 'Off' when you drive
Thankyou TrooperJ - someone else has suggested that. I will try that when I next take my car out. Ive disabled sync and can't get it to repeatedly restart on mains charger.

I had a response from TomTom today, to do a factory reset and then restart. I suspect that will have the same effect as turning sync off.

See if the same occurs when you drive without using the windscreen/dashboard mount.
directly connecting the device to the USB cable for sometime for testing

I had previously tried without the windscreen mount, and it still kept rebooting. That's why I brought indoors to try on a mains adaptor incase it was a noisy supply in the car causing it to restart. I even tried a different USB adaptor and charge cable.

Doing a factory reset is stopping syncing, it's two different things.

Doing a factory reset allows your GPS to do a full restart.

Stopping synchronization allows you to disconnect from Mydrive.

We had the 6200 also and the device kept restarting, and was a right pain

Ended up binning it, as it was useless when driving and kept restarting

Stopping synchronization allows you to disconnect from Mydrive.
Doing a factory reset also kills the stored password needed for syncing, so would have the same impact on the device in that respect.

That's exactly what I'm saying, doing a factory reset or stop syncing are two different things.
Each time we want to stop the synchronization we will not do a reset.
