To upgrade our not?

heya. I have tomtom on my iPhone with lifetime map updates. I keep getting the offer of a free upgrade to the new tomtom app. The conditions of the free map updates is that it is for the lifetime of the app. If I upgrade for free will I lose the lifetime maps as it will technically be a new app. Fanks for any replies.
