TomTom Model(s)
100
IO have an old Tomtom one (4N01) and am finding it difficult to connect to GPS. I am also a member of Pocket GPS World and use the speed camera db.
Do I buy another TT unit or am I better using the Android app. The db I use has all speed cameras and mobiles and red lights, it also gives me voice commands not just tone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS my unit has a custom Vavcore allowing the unit to start up and switch off automatically as I use the care.

None of the newer TomTom devices nor the phone app accept custom POI files, which are the basis for your speed camera database information. So there's that to start. Even the last to support a small number of POI files (those in the generation of the GO 620) did not support custom sounds for proximity to the associated POIs.

OK thanks
So we know which TT don't work so what model do I go for? that will allow me to install my db with sounds

You'd need something that dates back in the Nav2 era, and that means nothing produced from 2012 onward, and not even some models from 2010 or 2011. Nav3 supported the custom POI (using MyDrive to move them), but not the associated custom sounds.

Sadly, you're asking for features that were abandoned many years ago.

Only this old GPS Nav 3 can be found on second-hand websites with a serial number beginning with .

It's possible to add POI content with a custom icon and sound via MyDrive Connect.

The hardest part will be finding one.

But those won't alert based upon proximity to the POI they way a Nav2 device can do, will they? You would need that feature to use the sound file successfully. I've got my 1535 in pieces waiting for a new battery, so I can't check for the proximity feature.

Do you know where i can obtain a list of all nav2 models. I need to purchase the most modern i can find

You'll have a better chance of finding a Nav 3, see the list in my previous post, than a Nav 2.
All Nav 3s have the ability to display the exact location of a POI.

Here, have fun with this. It's my internal list of every Nav3 device TomTom ever sold, and perhaps a few they didn't sell. There are a couple of gaps where I removed in-built systems and the like. Some on this list have already gone 'end of life' regarding maps, so before you buy, compare to THIS list >> https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/navigation/obsolete-products/

What is the most modern TT with OV2 file structure. I need this for my Speed camera db

I am a member of a site (Pocket GPS World) that supplies updated db of SC. I am a lifelong member so get them free

Thanks
What is the most modern TT with OV2 file structure. I need this for my Speed camera db
The list above wasn't large enough? These are all built on the same basic generation of firmware (Nav3) and hardware (including being resistive tech touch screens). I always liked the 1605 for screen size.

In terms of overall bang for buck, the low end was Start, then Via, then GO.

Some, like the "Pro" models, have other special features.

I desperately need help.
I have a TT one v3, I know it's old but I use it for my speed camera db. The db I have has all cameras, static and mobile. It is updated ever week (subscription) but I am a lifetime member with no subscription needed.
Some time ago (quite a few years) a guy sent me a Navcore2 that had been altered to switch on and off automatically with the ignition. Unfortunately I have lost his details.
I am having problems linking on to GPS and would like to upgrade to a newer TT that has better linkage.
My problem is that the db only works on TT OV2 and the Navcore is 2. I need a better TT that will use OV2 and Navcore 2
or I need to find another TT on Navcore 3? that will be model to start and stop.
Am I asking too much or is it possible, tried to use NaviTotal but it seems to be closed to new members

@canderson has provided you with a list of GPS devices to which you can add your OV2 file.

In this list, GPS devices have the option to automatically turn on and off when powered by a power source.

Willy thanks

Sorry to be a bit dim but can you give a little more information. GPS devices have the option to automatically turn on and off when powered by a power source HOW
From the list what is the most modern unit please

You need to go to the battery saving options and check the appropriate box.

As for the question about which unit is the most modern for me, they're all older GPS devices, some of which are no longer supported by TomTom.

Hi
Checked the battery saving option, the only options are Never dim or Dim screen

Wait found the turn off when power disconnected, thanks
I'm new to all this so sorry about the questions, am sure I'll get the hang of it eventually.
Just need a better option that will better obtain GPS, the TT one is slow and mostly does not connect

Well, I have "next" then checked the device turns on when it is connected to a power source.
