Subaru with TomTom navigation???????

I am going to buy a subaru with TomTom nav. The old TomTom gps units only gave you an option of sortest or fastest route. Is this still the norm.
What is the overall opinion of the Subaru TomTom installation. Will Subaru ever get a Google nav system. I have used the Google nav and really liked it - how does it compare with Subaru TomTom?
