TomTom Model(s)
Start 60
Hi.Im new to this forum and would like to share my problem with maps.I own a number of tom tom units and all work fine and are still ok.I use them in my job delivering and collecting cars throughout the uk.To the point.
I have kept a Start 60 as a backup and it's been a brilliant companion. However it now says maps expired.Contacted support who were helpful updated my maps but I see they are to expire again in 14days.I only updated them 2 days ago.
This unit is old begins with WN serial number and has all western europe latest maps as of today. It also has uk maps.
This unit had lifetime maps, but the updated western europe maps downloaded to a sd card. They obviously work only on this device.
Has anyone any suggestions....I do have two Tom Tom Via models that are new and work fine.
My Start 60 has been my support for many years and feel i have lost a good friend always there when needed as I keep it as a backup.LOST OR LEFT A FEW TOM TOMS IN CARS.
Q. CAN I GET THESE MAPS INSTALLED AGAIN AS LIFETIME MAPS WITH UPDATES ?
Thanks for reading.PS. Cant get use to electric cars too quiet.

You'll have to stay on TomTom to get you squared away with maps since they control the 'push' jobs and subscription dates on their server. The next new one (1100) isn't due until about the 2nd/3rd week of November. You should have 1095 if you just got yours updated.

How long had your 60 been sitting without updates prior to this recent update? More important, had you ever updated it previously? We've heard instances of subscriptions 'fading away' if unused for some number of years.

Sorry that contacting them seems to take a long time these days. Phone support is pretty lousy everywhere here, too.

That's much easier to solve. You do remember holding playing cards with clothespins in the spokes of a bicycle when you were a kid, right? Surely there's a similar automotive solution? :D

Hi. Thank you for your insight on my problem regarding map expired. You are of course correct with what you have said. It does appear that due to lack of use the maps have faded away. I have a number of Tom Tom devices and failed to update this particular model. My fault. I will however contact Tom Tom support as they have always been very helpful. Like you say they control the system. Its like a "sausage machine" .. The more you input more information into the system the better the output or outcome. For example this particular model did have lifetime maps written on the box if I remember as I wouldn't have bought it for delivery and collections of cars nationwide.
As for electric cars I like your idea. Not wishing to get into a debate over the pros and cons I do find turning up the radio helps. Some models however even take that into their control.
Thanks again for your kind response.
