TomTom Model(s)
Go Classic 2nd Gen
I used to have a speed camera subscription for my Start 25. It's now not supported, so I bought a new tomtom go Classic with 3 month free speed camera subscription. Because I removed my old Tomtom, I cancelled my camera subscription. Will I get prompted to subscribe when the 3 month trial runs out? I don't even know if they are working because I haven't been in an area where there are any. In my account under my device, I see Speed Cameras 3 month trial.

The Start 25 speed camera subscription cannot be transferred to your new GPS.

Yes, after the 3-month trial period, you will be prompted to resubscribe.

On your Go Classic, have you updated all the apps, including the speed camera updates?

Hi there. It did a huge update when I bought it, but I was expecting a speed camera update each week like the Start 25. However, after your reply, I went back in to the services menu and finally clicked on "About" and then Speed Cameras which said they were live and the free trial ends on 31st August. It also said my Speed Cameras updated in real time, which confused me, as I thought you had to connect to wifi to update?

Hi,
Speed cameras are updated on Tuesdays and Thursdays via Wi-Fi on the GPS map.

They are also updated in real time if you connect your GPS to your phone.

OK Having googled it, it looks like you don't get updates until you take out the subscription when the free trial ends?

I have not had any updates since 1st June when I first registered it. Do you get a warning when there is an update to do? On the Tomtom itself, or in My Drive?

I found this "
To ensure you have the latest speed camera locations, go to Main Menu > Settings > Updates & New Items. If you have a subscription, it will automatically check for updates. If it's a trial, it may need to be activated." It does say it's Active, but I have had no updates.

If you say your subscription ends on August 31st,
Have you enabled speed camera alerts in your settings?
Have you agreed to share information with TomTom to receive real-time alerts?

I have no idea. Yes I have enabled Alerts - in Sounds and Warnings? I don't know about sharing information. Where do I do that?

Main menu, Settings
System
Then Information and Privacy
Enable information sharing.

In any case, if you don't receive any updates, it's best to contact TomTom support and ask them about it.

Yes, just checked I am sharing information. And all alerts are on. How on earth do you contact Tomtom support. That's why I'm on here :) Or do you mean raise a ticket? Would you expect I should have received camera updates yet or not?

How to contact TomTom support

Normally, radars are installed directly on the map, so even without a connection, you should have alerts if the radars have been downloaded correctly.

When you say "alerts", you mean a camera warning? I should be able to check that on Wednesday when driving in a known camera area. I am concerned that I am not getting updates, although my account says I am up to date.

Yes, alert = warnings

How did you select to receive warnings?

Three Possibilities
Never
When you are approaching a traffic jam or speed camera too fast,
Or before each speed camera and slowdown on the route.

They are all selected. It's not the warnings I am concerned about, it's the updates. I haven't had any.

Think I have found the answer

"With a TomTom GO Classic 3-month trial, speed camera updates are typically received monthly. The trial includes TomTom Traffic and speed camera alerts for the initial three months. After the trial period, you'll need a subscription to continue receiving these updates

Your subscription ends on August 31st, so during the 3-month free trial, you should receive free radar and traffic updates for 3 months.

If you haven't received any updates since purchasing your GPS, this is not normal.

I had a huge update on the first day I got it, but I don't know if that was maps or cameras. It took a long time. I have asked support. Thank you for your help.

Hi, just heard from Tomtom Support that speed camera updates are issued with map updates, unlike how I got them before on the Start 25, so, all is well.

Hello

All the more reason to connect your GPS to your phone and receive real-time speed camera alerts.

Having a difficult time doing that. My phone won't tether, but I will keep trying.
