Did anyone notice that the size of the new USA and Canada maps (665.1293) is smaller than the older map by about 30MB? My older mapset was 665.1103 and was around 923MB. The 665.1293 mapset is 896MB. I'm not sure if that means anything. Here's some relevent filesizes.

Code:
                 File Size (KB)
File v665.1103 v665.1293
----------------------------------
cline.dat 530,516 513,680
cname.dat 91,986 114,008
cnode.dat 180,970 175,398
mapinfo.dat 20,529 9,533
poi.dat 49,692 57,663

Yeah, I noticed that too. So instead, I installed the North America maps on my ONE and couldn't be happier. :)

It's because of the huge piece of Artic ice (40 Sq. miles) that broke off in Northern Canada late last year. Canada is smaller now!!

I noticed the NA map is larger by 20 MB with the update. Was 1.2GB, now its 1.4GB

One thing I found different in the new maps I use locally is that I can now find streets and roads that are in unincorporated areas of my county. Previously they were impossible to find unless you knew the rural fire district name where they were located. Also, it appears that they are now using the Post Office Zip Code maps so there are no missing or "twilight zone" areas as every area touches another. They have removed the multitude of small, rural fire districts names. This may have reduced the size of the maps. At least this is what I have noticed for my area. Still wish you could search by State, County and then Street or Road instead of having to know a city or Zip Code before the street or road. It would sure speed up the location of obscure addresses in the emergency services.
