TT One 3rd Edition
Am I doing this correctly,or not.
In trying to set up a Password, it says to do this,
i.e.
Set a password for your TomTomONE so that only you can use it. Every time you
start your ONE you will have to enter your password.
To set your password, run your ONE using TomTom HOME. From the Preferences
menu, click Set owner to set a password.
To set the password, you have to run your ONE using TomTom HOME. You can
then use TomTom HOME to set the password. To set a password on your device,
do the following:
1. Connect your ONE to your computer and switch it on.
2. Start TomTom HOME if it does not start automatically.

Mine is Not saying that at all, it just says under "TomTom Home", just Preferences.
Where is Set Owner at ???

I've got My TT1 plugged into the Comput, am logged in, & I'm like a Lost Sheep that has wandered away from it's Flock.

Russman,
I was confronted with the same issue a couple of weeks ago. In order to set the password for my TT1, I had to connect it to my computer via TT Home. I then selected the "operate my one" and was able to set it up through there. The password has worked ever since then. Any other problems, let me know, and Ill try to walk ya through it. I have no clue why it says to set it up via the preferences tab, as that appears to be ENTIRELY wrong.

Re: Setting Up A Password

Thanks "Miccp879",
I'll give that a try, but 1st, I have to find "Operate My One".

If & when I find it, I'll let you know:cool:

To Micp879

OK I can't find it, "Operate My One" anywhere on the TT Home Page.
When I click on "My One" @ the bottom of the TT Home Page under the "More" Section, it says this, At this time there is No component available that is compatible with your TT Device.
The same thing applies when I click on "My Device" @ the Very Bottom of the TT Home Page, At this time there is No component available that is compatible with your TT Device.

I'm sorry, :( but I'm just a Very Lost & Cornfused "Newbie" who apparently seems to be "Out of His League"

OK here goes ...
Connect your tomtom to the computer
turn it on
press yes to connect to computer on your tomtom
open up tomtom home on the computer
download any new updates
click done
now you are on tomtom home main meanu
you should see icon "Add maps..." "Read the manual" "Operate your one"
Click on operate "OPERATE MY ONE"
if and only if it states it must download new software here, allow it to.
On the screen you should see your tomtom in operation with where you are
click on the center of the screen to bring up the tomtom units menu
Click on "GENERAL PREFENCES"
Click on the ARROW
Click on the arrow again until you see "SET OWNER"
Click on "SET OWNER"
follow the instructions on the screen
This should set your password for each time you turn on your unit.

Tuckerman,
I did as you requested (pls see attached pics.)
Do I Have to give "My TT1" a Name ?
I still do not see what you are referring to because there were "NO Updates" to install; now you are on tomtom home main meanu
you should see icon "Add maps..." "Read the manual" "Operate your one"
Click on operate "OPERATE MY ONE"

I went & got TT's Home Page from a Person here in this forum who had said the the CD did not have any downloads for a Mac User.

I am using a Mac Version 10.4.11.

OK here goes ...
Connect your tomtom to the computer
turn it on
press yes to connect to computer on your tomtom
open up tomtom home on the computer
download any new updates

Hi RussMan070552,

The problem seems the files needed for the emulation isn't available (yet) for the Mac. Do you have a PC you can install HOME on?

Once you are able to get the Virtual TomTom running follow the instructions given by tuckermans and you'll be able to setup the password.

Setting A Password

Well, yes & NO, mostly No.! ! ! I need a "Hard Drive" in my PC.
Once I get a "Hard Drive" installed, I'll get the Virtual TomTom Up & Running & I'll follow the instructions given by "Tuckermans"

Thanks for the That Major piece of Info , Digital-Flex

This is correct. HOME 1.6 on my Mac will not allow for emulation but HOME 2.1 on my PC (with the additional files installed) allowed for emulation and for the password to be setup.
